Contact Association Type

A “contact association type” represents the relationships between two contact records. For example, a person contact could belong to a contact group, or a person contact could be employed by the contact company.

Add a new contact association type

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation. 
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu under “Configuration”.
  3. Expand the “Type” menu under “Lists”.
  4. Select the “Contact Association” menu.
  5. Select “Add” to add a contact association type.
  6. Populate the fields.  Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Name*: Enter the name of the type of contact association.
      • The system will not allow contact association types with duplicate names.  
    • Description: Enter a description of the type of contact association.
    • Relationship*: The relationship between the primary and secondary contacts. Options include:
      • 1-1: One primary contact to one secondary contact.
      • 1-M: One primary contact to many secondary contacts
      • M-M: Many primary contacts to many secondary contacts
    • External Identifier: Enter a unique identifier that represents this record in an external system.
  7. Select “Save” upon completion.

Manage contact association types

  1. Locate the contact association type record.
  2. To the right of each record, under the Actions menu, you may:
    • Edit the contact association type.
    • Download the contact association type definition for import into another database.
    • Delete the contact association type. You may delete types only when they are not in use at any record.
