Dashboard Templates

The Dashboard Templates allow users to create and apply configured Dashboards that include a curated set of dashboard reports.  These can be designed at-will and are typically used to reflect job roles and functions, specific areas of interest, or are related to Assetas security role.

Add a new dashboard template

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation. 
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu. 
  3. Select “Dashboard Templates” to view the list of Dashboard Templates.
  4. Select “Add” to add a new dashboard template.
  5. Populate the fields.  Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Name*: Enter the name of the dashboard template.   
    • Description: Enter a detailed description of the dashboard template.  
    • Layout*: Select if the dashboard controls should be arranged from left-to-right (row layout) or top-to-bottom (column layout).
      • Column-Based Layout (defaulted value):  Controls are placed top-to-bottom with the column height set to the combined height of the controls in that column.​
      • Row-Based Layout:  Controls are placed left-to-right with the row height set to the height of the tallest control in that row.
    • Columns*:  Select the maximum number of columns of display on large displays.  Smaller displays will use fewer columns.  Options include:
      • Display controls in one column
      • Divide controls into two columns
      • Divide controls into three columns
    • External Identifier: Enter a unique identifier that represents this record in an external system.
  6. Select “Save” upon completion.

Import current dashboard

Configure your dashboard to your exact needs and then upload your current dashboard into a dashboard template.

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation. 
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu. 
  3. Select “Dashboard Templates” to view the list of Dashboard Templates.
  4. Locate the dashboard template record and select View/Edit button for the desired record.
  5. Select “Import Current Dashboard” in the Dashboard Controls section.
  6. Select “Yes” to confirm.

Add a dashboard control

A dashboard control is a report that has already been configured in the system.

  1. Locate the dashboard template record and select the View/Edit button for the desired record.
  2. Select the “Add” button in the Dashboard Controls section.
  3. Populate the fields.  Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Report*: Select the report that is included as a control on the dashboard.   
    • Position: Enter the position of the report on the dashboard.
  4. Select “Save” upon completion.

Dashboard Security Tip

Please ensure the report-level security selections are coordinated. Users with insufficient security access to view a dashboard control will see an indicator that they do not have the appropriate security permissions to view this report, with guidance to contact their system administrator or the owner of this report to provide access to their security role.

Add a security role

The dashboard templates are only available for use by users who have appropriate security roles.​

  1. Locate the dashboard template record and select the View/Edit button for the desired record.
  2. Select the “Add” button in the Security section.
  3. Populate the field.  Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Security Role*: Select the security role that allows the use of the dashboard template.
  4. Select “Grant” upon completion.

Add all security roles

The dashboard templates may be available to all users if all security roles are granted access. 

  1. Locate the dashboard template record and select the View/Edit button for the desired record.
  2. Select the “Add All” button in the Security section.
  3. Select “Grant All” to confirm your selection.

Manage dashboard templates

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation. 
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu. 
  3. Select “Dashboard Templates” to view the list of Dashboard Templates.
  4. To the right of each record, under the Actions menu, you may:
    • View detailed information or edit the dashboard template.​
    • Download the dashboard template for import into another database.
    • Delete this dashboard template.

System-defined dashboard templates cannot be downloaded or deleted.
