Manufacturer and Model

You are here:

Manufacturers are companies that manufacture an asset, while models are specific categories of assets manufactured by a company. Manufacturer records are the parent record for the model records.

Manufacturers

Add a new manufacturer

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation.
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu under “Configuration”.
  3. Select the “Manufacturers” menu.
  4. Select “Add” to add a manufacturer.
  5. Populate the fields.  Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Name*: Enter the manufacturer name.
      • The system will not allow manufacturers with duplicate names.
    • Description: Enter a description of the manufacturer.
  6. Select “Save” upon completion.

For instructions on how to bulk load manufacturers and models, see Make and Model Import.

Associated Documents

Link the manufacturer to documents by selecting “Add” to upload a new document to this manufacturer. Once added, you may:

  • View the document.
  • Download the document.
  • Edit the document.
  • Remove the document from this manufacturer. Removing the document does not delete the document record from the database, it only removes the link between the document and the manufacturer.

Manage manufacturers

  1. Locate the manufacturer record.
  2. To the right of each record, under the Actions menu, you may:
    • View detailed information or edit the manufacturer.
    • Download the manufacturer definition for import into another database.
    • Delete the manufacturer.  Manufacturers may be deleted when there are no assets with this manufacturer in the system. If assets with this manufacturer are present in the system, remove those assets first (or reassign their manufacturer) before deleting the manufacturer itself.
