Analysis Type

An Analysis Type is a configuration record that defines the standardized framework for a specific category of analyses (for example, Gas Analysis or Water Sample). It is a prerequisite for creating Analysis records and is used to ensure analyses are created and managed consistently across the system. Most importantly, the Analysis Type controls which asset types an Analysis can be associated with through its Applicable Asset Types, and Assetas strictly enforces those rules when users link an Analysis record to an asset.

Add a new analysis type

  1. Expand the “Configuration” menu on the sidebar navigation.
  2. Expand the “Lists” menu under “Configuration”.
  3. Expand the “Types” menu under “Lists”.
  4. Select the “Analysis” menu.
  5. Select “Add” to add an analysis type.
  6. Populate the fields. Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Name*: The name of the type of analysis (e.g. Gas Analysis or Soil Sample).
      • NOTE: The system will not allow records with duplicate names.
    • Description: Description of intended use and expected results.
    • Applicable Asset Types: The list of asset types that may use this analysis type.
    • External Identifier: Enter a unique identifier that represents this record type in an external system.
  7. Select “Save” upon completion.
NOTE: You can see which analysis types are actively being used by looking at the In Use column in the Analysis Type list.
