Encoder

You are here:

The built-in encoding tool generates barcodes, QR codes, RFID codes, and others for unique records and other data. This tool is valuable for sharing Assetas links to view on mobile devices. Applications include sharing links to anonymous health screening forms, observation forms, internal dashboards, and notification reminders.

Locate the encoder

  1. Locate a form type, a report, or an Asset or Contact record with a tracking code.
  2. For Assets and Contacts: on the detail’s page, select the barcode icon to the right of the “Tracking Code”. For forms and reports: select the barcode icon to the right of the “Edit” button.
  3. Confirm the following fields. Data fields with an asterisk (*) are required.
    • Encoded Information: Enter the information you wish to encode in the barcode.
      • This field will be pre-populated by the preceding page’s URL or Tracking Code, depending on the record type.
    • Size: Move the slider to the appropriate size you wish to generate.
  4. Select “Generate” upon completion.
If applicable, the associated asset or contact will display below the ‘Generate’ button.

Display the encoded data

After selecting “Generate,” the page will display a table of different encoding formats that match both the encoded information and the size you prescribed. If an encoding method is not valid for the encoded information, this will be indicated and details will be provided. Right-click to copy images that you will use elsewhere. RFID codes include a clickable icon to the right of the code. Click this icon to copy the value to the clipboard.
